Also Drinking water lakes and reservoirs can be affected by inflow of phosphorus and nitrogen. In addition, airborne eutrophication contributes to the pollution. All thusly influenced waterbodies need external help. No lake can survive without oxygen. In a healthy lake, a dynamic equilibrium between oxygen feed from the atmosphere, photosynthesis, oxygen consumption and mineralization of organic material is in place.

In a polluted lake, the dynamic equilibrium is shifted to an overproduction of organic material. Therefore, the lake has to provide more oxygen. This creates a critical situation that endangers all biological life in the lake. An increased oxygen feed has to be achieved in order to protect it. Diffusion aeration constitutes an effective means to increasing oxygen concentration in shallow lakes, ponds, rivers and canals.

DIFFUSION AERATION – A SIMPLE METHOD FOR THE AERATION OF BODIES OF WATER

Circulation through diffusion aeration is an often applied eco-technology. It counteracts oxygen depletion caused by eutrophication, water stagnation, and acute pollution. Temperature stratification is prohibited.

With this technology we can positively influence oxygenation. Sizing is important to assure the success of the treatment. AGO Hydroair possesses longstanding experience in computer based dimensioning of diffusion aeration facilities. We are able to provide turnkey ready systems. Also, AGO Hydroair provides mobile facilities to communities, cities and Industry for short term lease. Those can be installed in shortest time to prevent oxygen depletion and mass death of fish.

Functional principle

Compressed air is led through special, customized according to the conditions PE hoses. The air is then released through nozzles in the hoses. It disperses into numerous, small bubbles that rise to the surface. Buoyancy due to pressure differences create a strong, vertical flow. Near-ground, deoxygenated water is transported to the top where it flows off horizontally. Oxygen exchange occurs 1) through the creation of small air bubbles due to pressured air, and 2) through the horizontal flow on the surface (exchange with the atmosphere). In order to create the small bubbles, nozzles the size of 0.5 – 2 mm are drilled in a special procedure.

Design

The perforated hose is installed at the bed of the waterbody. This is done so that it lays in the deepest spot of a lake, or along the riverbed. We are able to weight down the hoses using a special technique in order to maintain its flexibility. In case of soft sediment or a muddy ground, the hoses are installed using balloon mountings and ground weights.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Devices and installation

The system includes:

A compressor possibly with an aftercooler

Aeration hoses, possibly floating hoses, anchor weights and buoys

Shut-off devices and actuators

AGO Hydroair offers to head the installation, and have the system mounted by its personnel.
The equipment is delivered to the water. The aeration hoses are drilled and rolled up in coils or delivered as bar stock. After the mounting of the weights, the hoses are transported to their position via boat and then sunk. The facility is ready for use after being connected to the compressor and a system check. AGO Hydroair also offers to monitor the conditions while the system is in use.

Result

Diffusion aeration shows a quick rise in oxygen concentration in the water. Damages to water and mass death of fish are prevented. The body of water gets a chance to regulate its mass balance. This oxygen aeration system allows for effective and quick treatment of critical water conditions. This ensures the natural and recreational values.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Destratification systems Diffusion aeration – Restoration of waterbodies through destratification Our lakes and waterways suffer from pollution.
